TrueConnect: Creating a Private Connection Template
Connection templates are a great way for product suppliers to quickly apply their desired connection settings when initiating a new connection. Templates control what products can be resold, their commission (or net rate), and more.
There are two types of connection templates, public and private. Public templates control the default settings for any new connection, including when a reseller requests to sell a supplier's products. Private templates must manually be selected by the supplier when inviting a business to resell their products, otherwise, it will default to the supplier's public settings.
Note: If you're a supplier and you plan to use the same default settings for every business you connect with, then there is no need to create a private template.
Navigate to Connections > Connection Templates > New Template
Template Name: Give a name to your template
Payment Option: Choose between Commission or Net Rate (this option will not exist when editing your Public Connection Template, and will be commission by default).
Connection Mode: Choose to have your products automatically connect for new Suppliers/Resellers or require those products to be added manually.
+Add Products To This Template: Select what product(s) you want to make available for this template. If the checkbox to enable a product is missing, then you do not have permission to resell that product. For example, you can't add a product that you're a reseller for if the product if your earnings for that product are commissions based.
Price Category: If you have a custom price category that you want to assign to any given products, you can choose that from here.
Customizable by Reseller: Give the reseller permission to edit the product as if it were their own, any changes made to the product will not have an impact on your original copy of the product, or the actual inventory available. These changes are simply to fit their business's marketing and branding needs.
Commission or Net Rate amount: Choose the flat amount or percentage for the commission or net rate of your product.
Once you're satisfied with the settings you have chosen, you can save your changes. Changes to your template will not impact any businesses whom this template is already assigned to as templates only impact your initial connection with a business, all future changes must be manually made on a business by business basis.
Once saved, you cannot switch between Net Rate and Commission. If you do need to switch that over, a new template would need to be created.
To use your template, you'll need to either invite a business to resell your products or add a new reseller. When initiating a connection, you'll have the option to select a template.
