Discounts and Promo Codes

This article covers all things discounts and promo codes. How to create a discount, apply a discount, or remove a discount.

1.  Create a discount during product creation


When creating a product, you'll have the option during the Pricing step to create a new discount or apply an existing one.

When creating your discount, you'll be presented with the following options:
Discount Name is the name you give your discount, it will show up throughout the app and on order confirmations.
Percentage or Flat determines if the discount is a percentage or flat amount.
Price Tiers will allow you to choose if the discount can be applied to all price tiers or if it is applicable only to specific price tiers.
Amount  is the $ or % on potential savings for your customer.
Promo Code will allow you to create a custom promo code that you can give out to your customers for use on public pages. Punctuation doesn't matter, so no need to worry if your code is SPRING20 or Spring20, they will both function the same.
Exclusivity determines if the discount can be combined with other discounts, or not.
Group Discount apply discount based on group size. This is helpful if you want discounts to only be valid for guests who book as a group.
Discount Application Mode gives you the ability to have discounts apply automatically, or only be applied manually. If you choose to have a discount apply based on group size 'apply automatically' will be enabled by default. Also, if apply automatically is enabled, it will disable the "Promo Code"
Online Redemption lets you specify if a discount is available in-house only or online
Discount Limits allow you to set rules around your discounts, preventing people from using your discounts based on any settings you'd like to enforce.
Purchase Date allows you to set a date range that a discount can be used. For example, if you had a Holiday weekend sale running for a few days only, this would be the setting you'd want to use. This setting is based on the date of purchase, not the date of the product departure.
Purchase Day allows you to set what day of the week this discount can be used at checkout. For example, if you wanted to restrict people to only be able to use this discount if they're purchasing on specified days of the week, you could do that. This setting is based on the day of the week of the purchase, not the date of the product departure.
Product Start Date will allow you to set a date range of launch times that the discount can be applied to. This setting is based on the date of the product departure.
Product Start Day will let you set restrictions around what days this discount can't be used for. So if you have peak days on Fridays and Saturdays, you could make your discount unavailable on those days. This setting is based on the day of the week of the product departure.

2. Create or edit a discount from your account settings


Navigate to Settings > Discounts. From there you can create a new discount, or edit an existing discount. You can also quickly and easily enable all required fields

3. Create a custom one-time discount


You can create one-time custom discounts by opening up the cost summary of your shopping cart for new orders, or on the order confirmation of existing orders. Select the "Discount" option, then choose "Custom" and then set your preferred settings.

4. How to apply or remove a discount


New Internal Orders: There are two ways to apply a discount to a new internal order
At the top of your shopping cart, you'll find the option to enter a promo code. Simply type in your promo code, and if the product qualifies for the discount it will apply it.
Open the "Cost Summary" and select "Discounts" to choose from the list of available discounts, or create a custom one-time discount.

Online Orders: If your customer knows one of your promo codes, they can add the promo code during the checkout process.

Existing Orders: Open the order in your Resmark Account. Expand the Cost Summary, and then select the "Discounts" option. From there you can select from your list of existing discounts, or create a one-off discount.

If the discounts section is grayed out, then you may not have access to add or edit discounts on orders. For example, if you're using the TrueConnect feature of Resmark, and you're a reseller of this product, there may be restrictions in place preventing you from applying the discount. If you're unsure, contact Resmark Support.
If the customer has already paid for their order, you may be prompted to process a refund for the discounted amount.

Removing a discount: Open the order, expand the "Cost Summary" -- if a discount has already been applied to this order you will see the option to remove it.
Keep in mind that removing a discount will increase the balance, so you will be prompted to take payment for the remaining amount once the discount has been removed.
