How do I set up an Android tablet Kiosk?

When using an Android tablet as a kiosk, you have a handful of options for how to display WaiverSign. Our number one recommendation would be to pair Kiosk Browser Lockdown from The Google Play Store with a Samsung Tablet.

Your WaiverSign subscription includes everything you need for your signers to quickly and easily sign their documents from nearly any modern device. Using compatible 3rd party tablets and kiosk software that aren't included with your WaiverSign subscription you can easily convert your WaiverSign URL into a Kiosk for fast check-in at your physical location.

Nearly any Android tablet with access to the Google Play Store should be compatible with WaiverSign. If you're purchasing a new tablet, we recommend getting something released sometime in the last 12 months to ensure long term compatibility. We recommend Samsung Tablets, as they've been a reliable option for many of our clients.

Please take note, if your tablet does not support the Google Play Store, then Kiosk Mode will likely not be possible. So tablets such as Amazon Kindle Fire, which lack The Google Play Store will be incompatible with WaiverSign Kiosk Mode.

Kiosk Browser Lockdown Setup:

Kiosk Browser Lockdown is our recommended solution. At the time this article was published, lifetime licenses run at $9.60 per tablet with no renewal required. For the current pricing structure, please visit https://www.android-kiosk.com/, select the "Buy Now (Browser)" option and the price will be displayed.

The following steps will lock your Android tablet to your WaiverSign waiver, ensuring that your participants/signers do not stray away to other websites or menus on your tablet(s). Additionally, if someone begins the signing process and walks away for more than a minute, the app will automatically start over for the next person in line.

Preparing your tablet.

Install Kiosk Browser Lockdown from the Play Store to your tablet.
This application is not free, at the time this Knowledge Base article was published they charged $9.60 per tablet for a lifetime license.
Once installed, press your home button (the center button that takes you back to your home screen). A new menu should pop up on the lower half of your screen asking you to select your home/launcher. Select "use Kiosk Browser as your home/launcher" with the option "Always."
This will lock your Android tablet to Kiosk Browser. If you ever need to exit the app, select the 3 dots at the top right corner and use the "Exit to Launcher" option, this will require you to enter your 4 digit passcode. The default passcode is 0000.

Adding your WaiverSign link.

Once you have installed the app, select the 3 dots at the top right. Choose the "Settings" option.
The app will ask you for your 4 digit password, the default setting is 0000.
Once in the Settings menu, the very top option should be "General", select "General.
Find the option "Kiosk URL" in the general settings.
Insert your WaiverSign Kiosk URL in that field. If you don't know how to generate the Kiosk URL, please see this article or contact the support team.

Optional Settings.

Changing your password.
To change your passcode from the default 0000 to a more secure number, open the settings menu > scroll down to and select "Admin" > Find the option "Settings Password" > Create a new password that you will not forget, but others will not be able to easily guess.
Create a Kiosk Title.
If you want a name to show up in the header of your Kiosk, such as "Kiosk 1" or any other custom name of your choosing, navigate to Settings > General > Kiosk Title.
Automatic App Timeout.
Your WaiverSign Kiosk URL will automatically time out after 60 seconds if no user input is detected. However, Kiosk Browser offers their own app timeout if you want something more strict. Navigate to Settings > General > Timeout > Select your preferred time.
If you need your browser timeout to be longer than 60 seconds, do not use the "Kiosk Mode" URL from WaiverSign, as it will override the settings in the Kiosk Browser app -- instead, use the "Standard URL" from WaiverSign.

Testing your Waiver.
Once you have your Kiosk configured, we highly recommend you go through the entire signing process from start to finish to ensure everything is working as intended. If you experience any issues, please don't hesitate to reach out to WaiverSign Support for some extra assistance.

Activating your license (or de-activating your license if upgrading your tablet):
